About me

I find that mornings are my best time of day. No matter what life threw at me the day before, I wake up each day feeling excited about what I can do both at work and at home to find joy in my life and share it with others. What I love about this blog is that it gives me the chance to share my crazy, imperfect, and sometimes frustrating journey with others. I hope it will inspire other women to let go of perfectionism and focus on loving themselves. No matter what happened yesterday, look forward to today and plan on the sunrise!

Vidalia Patterson is a full-time research attorney, part-time adjunct professor, and round-the-clock mom who lives in North Carolina. At her day job with a Federal Public Defender office, she makes sure indigent clients get the best representation possible. She loves working with and mentoring students, whom she hopes will be the next generation of compassionate lawyers. At home, she has a great family with lots of challenges. Along with working and teaching, managing her son’s ADHD and daughter’s EoE (eosinophilic esophagitis) conditions has given her some helpful organizational skills. Between Celiac disease and food allergies, her family has dietary restrictions that have inspired lots of tasty recipes. More importantly, she has learned the hard way that taking care of herself is just as important as caring for her family, clients, and students.
